Prior to this adventure, Patti was an elementary classroom teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her last few years in the classroom were spent as the lead Technology Teacher for grades K-8, where in addition to engaging students in meaningful ways to utilize technology, she honed her Breakout EDU facilitation and game design skills with all levels.

Mark spent over 15 years working as a Tech Coordinator in Central California helping serve thousands of teachers with their technology needs, while also teaching music at a local high schools. During this time, Mark traveled internationally to speak on the impact of technology in education while also serving on multiple boards for local non-profits. In 2015, Mark helped start the Breakout EDU movement out of his garage alongside a guy named James.

"It's Time for Something Different" . . . a slogan powerful enough to coax a girl away from an 18-year teaching career. Before becoming the Director of Digital Learning for Breakout EDU, Ann was either puzzling over how to best engage 4th & 5th graders as a classroom teacher, or contemplating how to design engaging professional development as a technology integration specialist. Through the miracle of math, this 29-year-old geek is the proud mama of two boys (23 and 14), the wrangler of two rambunctious pups, and the wife of an equally nerdy tech dude. When she isn't shenanniganating or mischiefizing, she likes to dabble in all things geeky, so you'll typically find her snuggled up with her computer on a Friday night, crafting games or analyzing spreadsheets (and if she's lucky... it's both!).

Chewbacca was born on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk around 200 BBY. He was the son of Attichitcuk, who was a Wookiee chieftain for the majority of Chewie's life. As a young Wookiee, he was well-known for his skill at navigating wroshyr trees and for his abilities with a hydrospanner. The original Breakout EDU boxes were constructed with reclaimed wood from buildings destroyed by The Empire.
