We are leveling up the way Breakout EDU games are played! Designed to add a new layer of challenge, engagement, and fun to game play, we are pleased to introduce carousel games, thrilling gamification upgrades, and updated game player features.
Each of the following updates promise to bring a new level of excitement and ease to teaching and learning with Breakout EDU. Keep reading to break into a whole new dimension of activities.
Introducing Carousel Games
Carousel Games are a dynamic addition to our digital repertoire where clues take center stage. Students are challenged to match clues with the correct locks. Unlike traditional games from Breakout EDU, Carousel Games present learners with multiple clues simultaneously, more closely mirroring a traditional escape room experience.
When students are challenged to match a clue to a lock, it activates a whole new level of critical thinking! Solving clues one-by-one requires a healthy amount of content knowledge and reason whereas being presented with multiple locks and clues simultaneously requires higher level analysis and spatial reasoning - not to mention a healthy amount of grit and resilience!
Simply type "Carousel" into the search bar when logged into your account to find these gems and be sure to keep an eye out for the carousel banner when perusing the Breakout EDU library. Get ready for a digital adventure that will put your students’ critical thinking skills to the test!
Upgraded gamification features
Even though Breakout EDU has always been a leader in the gamified learning experience, we just leveled up! Students can now complete challenges and earn rewards like custom player avatars as they rise through the levels. Teachers can also award badges to students for displaying skills like perseverance, leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
The addition of levels and additional rewards serves to add yet another layer of excitement and motivation for students to complete activities. Issuing these rewards progressively allows students to build upon their learning - one level at a time - and allows teachers to confidently scaffold student gaming experiences based on their progress towards expected learning outcomes.
Additionally, as students conquer the challenges presented to them, they unlock rewards by dragging a key to its lock. In a progressive fashion, each level offers exclusive challenges and rewards to students as they go. Teachers can keep tabs on achievements in the “Challenges & Rewards” section of "My Account." Let the games begin - and go on, and on, and on…!
Updated player features
Our player console has been redesigned for easier use and maximum enjoyment across all devices. This allows students to enjoy the full Breakout EDU experience regardless of the size or type of device they are playing on and provides a more accessible experience for learners. Digital accessibility is a priority aspect for Breakout EDU. Our games routinely undergo review and receive updates to ensure we meet the learning needs of all students.
With the new player console, students can more easily access tools like Immersive Reader or click on the new magnify tool to zoom in on even the smallest details of any puzzle. We've also relocated the lock sequence of each game and the keyboards to the bottom of the game player page, providing a clear view of player progress and a more user-friendly experience. If your game has a timer, it will find a new home in the top right corner. Say hello to a smoother, more immersive Breakout EDU experience!
